This engagement session had been in the making for months. And every little detail was thoughtfully planned by the bride-to-be herself.
Already familiar with Charleston, Eli did her own scouting about a month before our session, saving all of her favorite spots around the city to Google Maps. We went through them together, talked about the kind of images she envisioned, and chose the outfits that would bring her vision to life.
By the time the day finally arrived, Eli and I had already spent months chatting back and forth. We had built such a sweet connection before ever meeting in person, but somehow, meeting Eli and Sam felt completely effortless, almost as if we had been friends for years.
And I think that connection was everything.
The best photographs happen when you feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera. When you can laugh, wander, talk, and simply be together. That’s exactly what happened with Eli and Sam, and the result was an engagement session that felt just like them: effortless, joyful, and full of love.
And then there was Charleston.
I completely fell in love with this city. The colorful historic homes, the architecture, the dreamy Southern light, the little details around every corner, and, of course, the food. Everything about Charleston felt beautiful and charming, and it went completely above and beyond what I had imagined.
Photographing Eli and Sam around Charleston was such a special experience, not only because of the photographs we created, but because of the friendship that started long before we ever met.
Here are some of my favorite moments from their Charleston engagement session
